Given: The difference between two angles of a triangle is 24°. The average of the same two angles is 54°.
Asked: Which one of the following is the value of the greatest angle of the triangle?
a-b = 24
a+b = 2*54 = 108
a = 66
b= 42
c = 180 -a-b = 180 - 108 = 72
The greatest angle = c = 72

Solution
Given:
- • Difference between two angles of a triangle is 24°.
• Average of the same two angles is 54°.
To find:
- • The value of the greatest angle of the triangle
Approach and Working
- • Let the two angles are a and b.
- o a – b = 24-------(1)
o a + b /2= 54
- a + b = 108 ---------(2)
Using equation 1 and 2, a =66 and b =42
- o Hence, third angle = 180 –108 = 72
Thus, the correct answer is D.
