Solution

Given:
    • The difference between two angles of a triangle is 24°
    • The average of the same two angles is 54°

To find:
    • Which one of the following is the value of the greatest angle of the triangle

Approach and Working Out:
    • A – B = 24
    • A + B = 54 * 2 = 108
    • Implies, C = 180 – 108 = 72
    • A = \(\frac{(24 + 108)}{2} = 66\)
    • Implies, B = 108 – 66 = 42

Hence, the correct answer is Option D.

Answer: D
