I’d like to offer a different solution using estimation. We can estimate the answer instead of trying to do any brutal calculations, the trick here is to identify whether we are underestimating or overestimating.

We can start by averaging first since 316.8 is very close to a multiple of 15, the average after tax is estimated to be 315/15 = 21. Note this is an underestimate. Then we can further estimate by subtracting 10% of 21. Note again this is underestimating the result since we’re supposed to find 100%x from 110%x = 21, yet we are subtracting 10% of 110% which gives us 99% only. Our underestimate is 21 - 2.1 = 18.9 and we should find the nearest answer above it.

Answer: B
