If x – 3 is a multiple of two, what is the next larger multiple of two?

A. 2x
B. x – 2
C. x – 1
D. x – 5
E. x + 2

x - 3 is multiple of 2.

In order to do so , x has to be odd.

let x be 5.

5 - 3 = 2.

Next larger multiple of 2 must be 4.

Option C) x - 1 = 5 - 1 = 4.

C is the correct answer.

In the highlighted portion above, was that +2 added because we are looking for another multiple of two?
