(old - new)/old

old = (4/5)x
new = (3/4)x

x cancels out

[(3/4)-(4/5)]/[3/4]

common denominator, etc.

[(15-16)/20]/[3/4]

[-1/20]/[3/4]

= -4/60
= -2/30

times 3/3
-6/90 -> slightly greater than 6%

Let the Machine valued $20 at the start of the year [LCM of 4 and 5 is 20].

=> Start year price: \(\frac{4}{5}\) * 20 = 16

=> End year price: \(\frac{3}{4}\) * 20 = 15

=> Percent change: \(\frac{(15-16) }{ 16 }\) * 100

=> - 6.25% [negative sign shows it is a decrease]
