let x = 100
decrease x by 10% , then x = 100 -10 = 90
now again decrease x by 10% , then x = 90 - 9 = 81
the total change is , 19 .
if we want say in a single percent change of two 10%'s then its 19%.
So Option C is correct

Solution (Method 1 – using value)
To find
We need to determine
- • The single percentage change equivalent to two percentage decreases of 10%
Approach and Working out
If we assume the initial value as 100, then
- • Value after first 10% decrease = 100 – 10% of 100 = 100 – 10 = 90
• Value after second 10% decrease = 90 – 10% of 90 = 90 – 9 = 81
As the initial value was 100, overall percentage decrease = 100 – 81 = 19%
Thus, option C is the correct answer.
