In this question, we are given that
- • A chart, showing the import and export of country X and Y across the years
To find
We need to determine
- • The amount by which Y’s imports exceeds X’s imports in the year when X’s exports exceeded its own imports by the greatest dollar amount
Approach and Working out
By visual observation, we can see that it was in the year 1987 when X’s exports exceeded its own imports by the greatest dollar amount.
In the year 1987,
- • Y’s imports (approx.) = $35 billion
• X’s imports (approx.) = $12 billion
• Hence, the difference = $(35 – 12) = $23 billion
Thus, option A is the correct answer.
