One can also use smart numbers to solve this problem.

We are told that there are twice as many books in Library B as there is in A. --> B=2A
Let's say B=24 books
Thus, A=24/2=12 books

We are also told that the new space will contain 1/3 of A's Book count and 1/4 of B's book count.

1/3*A=1/3*12=4 Books from A

1/4*B=1/4*24=6 Books from B

Finally, we are asked to solve-- What proportion of the books will come from A?

A/(A+B)= 4/(4+6)=4/10=2/5. ANSWER is B

The best way to solve these types of questions where there are no real values is by plugging in numbers.

Given: B =A2.

Therefore, we must find two numbers where A is twice as much as B. When choosing numbers for questions with fractions, the best way is would be using a common denominator. In this case that would be 12. We can take 12 for A and 24 for B since B has to be twice as much as A.

We get the following two formulas: (12)(1/3) and (24)(1/4)

A: (12)(1/3) = 4.
B: (24)(1/4) = 6.

The question asks us to find library A, which is 4/10. When you simplify this you get the fraction 2/5. Therefore the answer is: B.
