Rule: If n is a factor of integer a and b, n will be a factor of (a-b)

n is a factor of 575,713 - 573,921 = 1792

Out of all the possible options, only D, 256 satisifies the requirement of being a factor of 1792.

Answer is D.

The integers 573,921 and 575,713 when divided by a 3-digit positive integer n leave the same remainder.

What is the value of n?

573,921 = k1*n + r
575,713 = k2*n + r
575,713 - 573,921 = 1792 = (k2-k1)*n
n is a factor of 1792 = 2*896 = 2*2*448 = 2*2*2*224 = 2^8*7

A. 189 = 3^3*7; Is not a factor of 1792; Not feasible
B. 191 is a prime number; Not feasible
C. 206 = 2*103; Not feasible
D. 256 = 2^8; Feasible
E. 274= 2*137; Not feasible

IMO D
