Solution

Given
In this question, we are given that
    • A circle graph, drawn to scale, shows the total annual budget for a company that has five departments

To find
We need to determine
    • The measure of the central angle of the sector representing the department that has an annual budget equal to 5/18 of the company’s total annual budget

Approach and Working out
For a circle graph, drawn to scale, the total measure of the central angle is 360°
If the concerned department has 5/18 of the total budget, then
    • The corresponding angle = 5/18 x 360° = 100°

Thus, option D is the correct answer.

Correct Answer: Option D

Solution:

Recall that a circle has 360 degrees. We can create the proportion, where x is the number of degrees of the central angle of the sector representing the department that has an annual budget equal to 5/18 of the company’s total annual budget:

5/18 = x/360

18x = 5 * 360

18x = 1800

x = 100

Answer: D

Total annual budget= 360°
5/18 of total annual budget = 5/18 * 360° = 100°
