If \(2x + 1 = 9\) and \(y=x^2\), then \(y =\)

(A) 25

(B) 16

(C) 8

(D) 4

(E) 2

Solution:

2x + 1 = 9

2x = 8

x = 4

So, y = 4^2 = 16.

Answer: B

Solve 2x+1=9 => x = 4

y = \(x^2\) = 16

Option B it is.
