The average age of five persons in a family is 24 years. There is a couple in the family whose ratio of ages is 4 : 5. If average age of other three members except that couple is one year more than the overall average age of all five members then what is the age of husband in couple? (age of husband > age of wife)

Average age of all the members = 24
=> Sum of ages of five members = 24*5 = 120
Ratio of ages of the couple = 4:5
=> Age of husband = 5x; Age of wife = 4x (It is given that age of husband > Age of wife)
Average age of other three members = 25
=> Sum of ages of other three members = 25*3 = 75
=> Sum of ages of husband and wife = 120 - 75 = 45
=> 9x = 45
=> x = 5
=> Age of husband = 5x = 5*5 = 25
Answer: B
