Charles spent $28 in buying 4 cups of coffee, 2 burgers and 4 cones of ice cream. If the price of a cup of coffee is $2 less than the price of an ice cream cone, and the price of a burger is half the price of an ice cream cone, what is the price of a burger (in dollars)?

The price of a cup of coffee is $2 less than the price of an ice cream cone, and the price of a burger is half the price of an ice cream cone
let x = the cost of 1 burger
So, 2x = the cost of 1 ice cream cone
And 2x - 2 = the cost of 1 cup of coffee
Charles spent $28 in buying 4 cups of coffee, 2 burgers and 4 cones of ice cream.
We can write: 4(2x - 2) + 2x + 4(2x) = 28
Expand: 8x - 8 + 2x + 8x = 28
Simplify: 18x - 8 = 28
So..: 18x = 36
Which means x = 2
Answer: B

\(B = \frac{I}{2}\)
\(4C + 2B+ 4I = 28\)
\(4 ( I-2) + 2 * \frac{I}{2} + 4I = 28\)
\(4I- 8 + I + 4I 28\)
\(9I = 36\)
\(I = 4\)
\(B = 2\)
