In Nuts and Bolts factory, one machine produces only nuts at the rate of 100 nuts per minute and needs to be cleaned for 5 minutes after production of every 1000 nuts. Another machine produces only bolts at the rate of 75 bolts per minute and needs to be cleaned for 10 minutes after production of every1500 bolts. If both the machines start production at the same time, what is the minimum duration required for producing 9000 pairs of nuts and bolts?

The minimum time is limited by the slowest machine of the two. Obviously the work cannot be completed before the slower of the two machines finishes producing the required number of items.
Taking 3000 nuts and bolts as a reference to find the slower of the two machines:
Nuts = 10, 5, 10, 5, 10= 40 Min. ( 10 Min is 1000 nuts producing time and 5 min is rest time )
Bolts = 20, 10, 20= 50 Min. (20 Min is 1500 nuts producing time and 10 min is rest time)
So Bolt producing machine is the slower of the two.
Time taken to produce 9000 bolts = 1500*6 = 9000
So 20*6 production time and 10*5 rest time = 120+50= 170 Min.
Ans-B.
( For 9000 nuts 130 min. is needed so minimum time needed is restricted by 170 min. )
