150% of the product of 1/8 and 0.4 = 150/100 x 1/8 x 4/10
= 3/2 x 1/8 x 2/5 [ I simplified all of the fractions in the product ]
= 6/80
= 3/40
Note: At this point we can either use long division to convert 3/40 to a decimal, or we can do the following:
Take: 3/40
Multiply numerator and denominator by 25 to get: 75/1000 [Notice that this move created an equivalent fraction with 1000 as its denominator. This will allow us to easily convert the fraction to a decimal]
75/1000 = 0.075
Answer: B
