Lets say 100 students appeared for the examination
70 = Only Science + Only General
100 = 50 + Only General => Only General = 50
=> 70 = Only Science + 50
=> Only Science = 20
Alternatively,
Since 70 = Only Science + Only General, hence Both = 30
Hence, Only Science = Total Science - Both = 50 - 30 = 20
Option B
Lets say 100 students appeared for the examination
70 = Only Science + Only General
100 = 50 + Only General => Only General = 50
=> 70 = Only Science + 50
=> Only Science = 20
Alternatively,
Since 70 = Only Science + Only General, hence Both = 30

Each student took at least 1 quiz, so there are no students who took not one quiz.
Initial equation: 100= x + y + z
Label the sections of a Venn diagram x, y, z.
Z would be the intersection of set x and set y.
Z+y = 50
X+ y = 70
120 = x + 2y + z
-100 = -x -y - z
Sum the above equations
y = 20
