First simplify &x& = (x + 2) - (x + 1) - (x - 1) - (x - 2):
&x& = -2x
Calculate:
&(-100)& = -100 * -2 = 200
&(100)& = 100 * -2 = -200
Now calculate &(-100)& - &(100)&:
200 - (-200) = 400
===> E
&x& = -2x
Calculate:
&(-100)& = -100 * -2 = 200
&(100)& = 100 * -2 = -200
Now calculate &(-100)& - &(100)&:
200 - (-200) = 400
===> E

Given that &x& = (x + 2) - (x + 1) - (x - 1) - (x - 2) and we need to find the value of &(-100)& - &100&
&x& = (x + 2) - (x + 1) - (x - 1) - (x - 2) = x+2 - x -1 -x + 1 -x + 2 = -2x + 4
To find &(-100)& we need to compare what is in between "&" in &(-100)& and &x&
=> to find the value of &(-100)& we need to replace x with -100 in &x& = -2x + 4
=> &(-100)& = -2*(-100) + 4 = 200 + 4 = 204
Similarly, &100& = -2*(100) + 4 = -200 + 4 = -196
=> &(-100)& - &100& = 204 - -(196) = 204 + 196 = 400
So, Answer will be E
