l=length w=width a=area p=perimeter

area = length^2
perimeter = length*4

area of both cubes = q

so...

length = \sqrt{area}
length * 4 = perimeter

so...

4 * \sqrt{area} - something = Picture's area.

so we can stop here. E is correct.

The remainder is ... perimeter of picture is - 2p from each side of the frame's perimeter. 4 * -2p = -8p.

Area of whole square frame = q inch2
Length of the side of square frame = square root of (q)
Length of the side of square picture = square root of (q) - 2p
Perimeter of square picture = 4(square root of (q) - 2p)
=4 (square root of (q)) - 8p

E is the answer.
