5 feet by 2 feet essentially means 60 inches by 24 inches
60 inches by 24 inches essentially means 24 rows of length 60 inches and width 1 inch
Each row of length 60 inches and width 1 inch will contain 60 such 1inch*1inch tiles. Therefore, 24 such rows will contain 24*60=1440 tiles.
