X, Y and Z take 20, 30 and 60 days respectively to complete a job independently. They complete a job together. However Y leaves after 4 days and Z leaves after another 6 days. How many more days will it take for X alone to complete the job now?

A) 4
B) 3
C) 5
D) 6
E) 2

Rate of X = 1/20 job/day
Rate of Y = 1/30 job/day
Rate of Z = 1/60 job/day

Time of Y = 4 days
Time of Z = 4 + 6 = 10 days
Time of X = 10 + d days

Work of X = Rate × Time = (1/20)(10 + d) = (10 + d)/20 job
Work of Y = (1/30)4 = 2/15 job
Work of Z = (1/60)(10) = 1/6 job

Since they complete the job, we have:

(10 + d)/20 + 2/15 + 1/6 = 1 [Multiply both sides by 60.]
30 + 3d + 8 + 10 = 60
3d = 12
d = 4 days

took me 1.17 minutes
first, take LCM of 20, 30, and 60 = 60 units
x per day rate = 3 units
y per day rate = 2 units
z per day rate = 1 units

together 6 units per day

so, in first 4 days 24 units are done, 36 units are left(all working together, 6 units * 4 days)
then for the next 6 days, 24 units are done, 12 units are left(x and z working with 4 units per day. 4units *6 days)
now X will take 4 days to complete the remaining work(12 units/ 3 units per day)

ans A
