Let's just draw it. Gym and school are 10 miles apart (blue line). Mike's home could be half way between the two, or if it is not on the blue line, it could also be anywhere on the red line. Since the red line never gets closer to the Gym than five miles, I is out. II and III are in.

If \(x\) is \(4\) then this does not fulfill the above condition.
\(4+4 >10\) False
If \(x = 12\) then \(12 +12 > 10\) True
If \(x = 15 \) then \(15+15 >10 \) True
