If we use only ABC, we have 3 options for the first letter, 3 options for the second, 3 options for the third... = 3^6.
If we use only DEF, we have 3 options for the first letter, 3 options for the second, 3 options for the third... = 3^6.
We need to do one or the other of those, so we can add them. 2*3^6.
