The five numbers shown are listed in decreasing order. Which of the following values could be the range of the six numbers?
Range = 2x - 2.3
I. 2x - 2.3 = 4.1
x = 6.4/2 = 3.2. so x lies between 5.7 and 2.3. I is possible range.
II. 2x - 2.3 = 8.9
x = 11.2/2 = 5.6. so x lies between 5.7 and 2.3. II is possible range.
III. 2x - 2.3 = 9.2
x = 11.5/2 = 5.75. So x is greater that 5.7 hence III is not a possible range.
Therefore I and II is correct.

Solution:
- From the given data, \(range=2x-2.3\)
- And \(5.7>x>2.3\)
\(⇒11.4>2x>4.6\) - We know \(2x>6.1\)
\(⇒11.4>2x>6.1\)
\(⇒11.4-2.3>2x-2.3>6.1-2.3\)
\(⇒9.1>2x-2.3>3.8\)
\(⇒9.1>range>3.8\) - 4.1 and 8.9 can be the range
Hence the right answer is Option C
