Let the length of the ladder = L

In \(\triangle ACO\)

  • AC = length of the ladder = L
  • \(\angle CAO = 30\)
  • AO = distance of the ladder from the wall = \(\frac{\sqrt{3}*L}{2}\)

In \(\triangle DBO\)

  • DB = length of the ladder = L
  • \(\angle DBO = 45\)
  • BO = distance of the ladder from the wall = \(\frac{*L}{\sqrt{2}}\)

AO = AB + BO

\(\frac{\sqrt{3}*L}{2}\) = \(5 + \frac{*L}{\sqrt{2}}\)

Solve for L

\(L = \frac{10}{\sqrt{3}-\sqrt{2}}\)
