Great question, where is it from?
As indicated in the tags, it's from Princeton Review.

I say pretty surely it's this way:

If stakes are placed evenly spaced and total of 10 stakes equal 27 feet, Space between stakes = 3 ft

Then if adding another 10 stakes, you must include the additional space between stake 10 - 11 = +3ft

So, 27ft + 3ft + 27ft = 57ft. Answer C

IF we have \(10\) stakes then total spaces between the stakes will be \(9.\)

Hence \(10\) stakes and \(9\) spaces together measure \(27\) feet.

You have ignored the width of the stakes? Why?

How can we find the width of the space between the stakes, unless we are told to ignore the width of the stakes?

The way I did was, chose the closest answer to \(54.\)
