40 % of x = 20 => 40/100 of x = 20 . so , x = 50 (100 * 20 / 40)

Checking with options , answer is D . (25% of 200 = 50)

20 = \(\frac{40}{100}\) of X
X= \(\frac{20*100}{40}\)
X= 50

Now, a trick to go through each option and yet not calculate everything:

Look for ways to get a 50 by multiplication
It can be \(1 *50 , 10 * 5 \) or \( 25 * 2 \)

Going through each option:
A) 200% of 10 : Answer is 2... (starting with 2) Eliminate
B) 5% of 600 : Answer is 3... Eliminate
C) 40% of 100 : Answer is 4... Eliminate
D) 25% of 200 : Answer is 5... Maybe
E) 300% of 20 : Answer is 6... Eliminate

So, only one option is starting with 5 and hence, we don't need to calculate any further.
D is our answer

Given:
- The number 20 is 40 percent of a number, and we need to find that number.

Step 1: Express the problem as an equation.
- 20 is 40% of some number. We can write this as:
20 = 0.40 * X, where X is the unknown number.

Step 2: Solve for X.
- Divide both sides of the equation by 0.40:
X = 20 / 0.40 = 50.

Step 3: Check each option.

(A) 200% of 10 = 2 * 10 = 20.
- This is not the correct answer.

(B) 5% of 600 = 0.05 * 600 = 30.
- This is not the correct answer.

(C) 40% of 100 = 0.40 * 100 = 40.
- This is not the correct answer.

(D) 25% of 200 = 0.25 * 200 = 50.
- This is the correct answer.

(E) 300% of 20 = 3 * 20 = 60.
- This is not the correct answer.

Answer: D. 25% of 200
