4/11 * 1/4 = 4/44 or 1/11
4/11 - 1/11 = 3/11
since 1/11 crates were taken out of the total, we have to take it out of the total crates
3/11 -> 3/10 -> 30%

if you didn't know how to solve the problem, taking one look at the answer choices, CDE are higher than the original 4/11 which means you can take them out since the problem is talking about removing crates with apples, not other crates. the only way the crates with apples would increase in percentage is if you added crates with apples to the warehouse or you took away crates that didn't contain apples. from there it's a 50/50 between A and B
