Hi, just had a question because I'm doubting my ability to read questions correctly.
Why do we take Y as 1 instead of -1 here?
Is it because of (x-(-1) Y is 1? Or do we just take Y as 1, because the operation ( - ) is separate from Y.
and in the question, why is it then calculated as \((-1)^3\) should it not be \( - (1)^3\)...? It contradicts the answer explanation.
I sometimes have to double take whether I'm comprehending operations correctly.... I hate this because I feel it should be second nature / basic but I still find myself stumbling over it at times.
I appreciate your help.

What are you subtracting from 3j, 1 or -1? It’s 1! So y is equivalent to 1 for (x - y)^3. Accordingly, it should be -1^3 at the end, not (-1)3 as given in the "text solution?.

Thank you Bunuel. Just going through TTP's material right now so that's straight off the site. It seems I confused myself and your to-the-point explanation cleared it up for me. I overcomplicated it in my head.
