Jalal weighs twice as much as Meena. Meena's weight is 60% of Bahar's weight. Dolly weighs 50% of Laila's weight. Laila weighs 19% of Jalal's weight. Who among these 5 persons weighs the least?

A. Bahar
B. Dolly
C. Jalal
D. Laila
E. Meena

Even though the Sum can be solved using ratios. Logically it can be ascertained DOLLY is the LEAST.

GIVEN STATEMENTS :

Jalal weighs twice as much as Meena.

J = 2M . Which means J > M.

Meena's weight is 60% of Bahar's weight.

M = 60/100 B , which gives M : B = 3:5 , clearly B > M.

Dolly weighs 50% of Laila's weight.

D
weighs half of Laila. Hence, L > D.

Laila weighs 19% of Jalal's weight.

L = 19/100 J . Hence, L : J = 19:100. Therefore J > L.

Our findings till now

J > M.

B > M.

L > D.

J > L.
Combining last two eqn we get J > L > D . We need to find relations between B and M.

J = 2M = 2* (3/5) B = 6/5 B. This implies J :B = 6:5 J > B. Using eqn 2, J > B > M.

If we can find a correlation between L and M, we are done.

L = (19/100) J = (19/100)*2M = (19/50)*M . Thus L:M = 19:50. Hence, M > L

Our final equation becomes: J>B>M>L>D

Let weight of Meena be x
Meena=x
Jalal=2x, Bahar= 5/3x, Laila=.19*2x=0.38x, Dolly=0.5*0.35x=0.19x

Thus B is the answer
