That's calculation for 6C2 = 6!/(4!*2!) = 6*5*4!/(4!*2!) = 6*5/2

Hope that helped!

why did you divide it by 2?

There are 2 groups here - present employees vs not employees

Select 1 from not employees = 10C1
Select 2 from present employees = 6C2

Distinct groups = 10C1*6C2 = 10 * 6 *5/2 = 150

(A) 560
(B) 270
(C) 224
(D) 150

Total: 16.
Employees: 6
Non-employees: 10.

Need: 1 non-employee + 2 employees.

Non-employees → Pick 1: \(\binom{10}{1} = 10\).
Employees → Pick 2: \(\binom{6}{2} = 15\).

Total groups → \(10 \cdot 15 = 150\).
