The signage of ABC business school has flashing neon lights that flash at regular intervals. The words ABC, business & school flash at intervals of 2, 4, and 5 seconds respectively, and each word is put off after a second. If all 3 words started flashing together when switched on, what is the least time after which the full name is on?

ABC flashed together at 1 seconds. They are put off after 1 second, so They will flash together again after LCM(3,5,6)= 30 seconds

The flashes get on at intervals of 2,4 and 5 seconds.
THEN THEY ARE FLASH FOR 1 seconds each.

That makes the durations 3, 5 and 6 seconds or each neon lights.

LCM (3,5,6) =30 seconds

Each word turns on at its interval and stays on for 1 second.
So:
  • ABC is ON at 0s–1s, 2s–3s, ..., 18s–19s, 20s–21s
  • business is ON at 0s–1s, 4s–5s, ..., 20s–21s
  • school is ON at 0s–1s, 5s–6s, ..., 20s–21s
At 20 seconds, all three words start flashing again and will be ON from 20s to 21s.

Answer will be 30 if you start the interval after a light is put off. As the language is " flash at intervals of 2, 4, and 5 seconds respectively" it is safe to assume that the interval starts after light is put off.
