Total distance covered by Manny = 43 , time is 4.3 hours

For Irv net distance that needs to be travlled is (18-6)^2+((14-5)^2

Let's understand the question:-

Given:
Manny goes 6 miles east, 5 miles north, 18 miles west, 14 miles south.
  • Net east-west = 6 – 18 = -12 → 12 miles west
  • Net north-south = 5 – 14 = -9 → 9 miles south
Distance from start = \sqrt{}(122 + 92) = \sqrt{}(144 + 81) = \sqrt{}225 = 15 miles

Manny rides total distance = 6 + 5 + 18 + 14 = 43 miles
Speed = 10 mph → Time = 43 ÷ 10 = 4.3 hours
Irv walks straight 15 miles at 5 mph → Time = 15 ÷ 5 = 3 hours

So, Irv arrives 4.3 – 3 = 1.3 hours earlier → more than 1 hour before Manny

Final Answer: Option(B)
