What is the greatest common divisor of distinct positive integers a and b?
(1) a and b share exactly one common factor --> that one common factor must be 1, as it's the only so it's also the greatest. Sufficient.
(2) a and b are both prime numbers --> two distinct prime numbers share only one common factor: 1. Sufficient.
Answer: D.

A Typical GMAT example, where it makes a point that you have to read the question stem very carefully before answering the question. In 1, we have to note the word "exactly". Too good.
