I thought that the answer is E.
Because (1) could be M W M W M W M but also W M M W M W M
and (2) is insufficient since it could also be either M W M W M W M or for example MMMMWWW.
Where is my fallacy here? Seems like I am overlooking something..

We cannot place 3 remaining M's and 2 remaining W's, so that at least one man does not sit next to another man.

for second statement...both captain sit in first and last chair...but
M W M W M W M===>this you assumed wrong....either one side must be 1 women captain.
