Development planners determined the number of new housing units needed in a certain area using the formula H = kJ, where H is the number of of new housing units needed in the area, J is the number of new jobs to be created in the area, and k is a constant. How many new housing units did the planners determine were needed?
(1) The number of new jobs to be created was 60,000.
(2) According to the formula used by the planners, if 37,500 jobs were to be created, then 7,500 new housing units would be needed.

Initially I was lost as to why it wasn't B because it literally says 7,500 houses. But it says IF. So its the IF that gives you the formula to find K but not ACTUAL housing units needed. For anyone still confused. Hope it helps.

We need to find the value of kJ. Statement 1 tells us the value of J, but we have no information about k. Statement 2 tells us the value of k - if we plug the numbers in S2 into the formula H = kJ, we find 7500 = k*37,500, which we can solve for k. But using S2 alone we have no information about the value of J. Using both statements, we know both J and k, so we can find kJ, which is equal to H. So the answer is C.
