St1: d = sqrt(50) --> Area = (d^2)/2 --> Sufficient
St2: 4l = 20 --> l = 5 --> Area = l^2 --> Sufficient

The 4 length/side (S) of the square is equal.
So here, as per statement (a): The diagonal of the square is Root (50)
#Diagonal of the square (D) = S Root (2)
Means, Root(50) = S Root (2)
Or, S=Root (50)/Root(2)=Root(25)
Hence, S=Root (25)
#Formula of Area=S^2
Or, Area= we have to find square of Root (25)
So, Area=25
Hence, statement (a) is sufficient to find the area of the square.
As per statement (b):Perimeter of the square is 20
Means, P=20
#Perimeter of the Square, (P)=4S
Hereby, 4S=20 or S=5
#Formula of Area=S^2
Or Area= 5^2=25
So, Area=25
Hence, statement (b) is sufficient to find the area of the square.
Answer: (D), EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked.
