In the figure above, what is the value of b?

(1) a + c + d = 225
(2) d – a = 55

Attachment:
2016-01-03_2244.png

we know a+b+c=180
b+d=180

1 - a+180=225 -> we can find a, but not b.
2 - d=55+a
d=180-c
55+a=180-c
c=180-55-a
c=125-a

now:
a+b+125-a=180
b+125=180
b=55

statement 2 alone is sufficient

Question In the figure above, what is the value of b?

Statement (1): a + c + d = 225
-> c+d = 180
-> a = 225- 180 = 45.

But we can't calculate he value of b..
as b = 180-a -c
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement (2): d – a = 55
a + b = d
So, d-a = b = 55
SUFFICIENT
