Set A: {x, x, x, y, y, y, 3x+y, x-y}

If 0 < x < y, then what is the range of set A?

(1) The median of set A is 10
(2) The average (arithmetic mean) of set A is 9

*Kudos for all correct solutions

since 0<x<y thus x-y <0 , x+y>0

from the set given the largest term is 3x+y and the smallest is x-y , thus range = 3x+y - (x-y) = 2x+2y , thus question asks what is x+y

from 1
median = x+y/2 = 10 ..... suff

from 2

3x+3y+3x+y+x-y = 7x+3y... insuff
