What is the value of \(\frac{(y^2–x^2)}{x^2y^2}\) ?
(1) \(\frac{x}{x+y}=\frac{1}{2}\)
2x = x + y;
x = y.
Thus, \(\frac{(y^2–x^2)}{x^2y^2}=\frac{(x^2–x^2)}{x^2x^2}=\frac{0}{x^4}=0\). Sufficient.
(2) \(\frac{y}{x+y}=\frac{1}{2}\)
The same here: 2y= x + y;
x = y.
Thus, \(\frac{(y^2–x^2)}{x^2y^2}=\frac{(x^2–x^2)}{x^2x^2}=\frac{0}{x^4}=0\). Sufficient.
Answer: D.

\(=> \frac{(y^2–x^2)}{x^2y^2} = 0\)
