(A) Since we don't know how many liters of gasoline are there in a full tank, basis the information in this statement alone we cannot determine how much the automobile will average on one full tank. Insufficient.
(B) Barely knowing the total capacity of the tank doesn't tell us anything about the distance it can run. Insufficient.
Combining the two we get:
40 liters of gasoline and 8.5 kms per liter
Means total distance on one full tank = 40*8.5 = 340 kms
Hence, C.
