Addition and subtraction follow the same even/odd rules (because adding is the same thing as subtracting -- when you subtract, it's the same thing as adding a negative number). So any time a and b are integers and a-b is odd, a+b will also be odd, and Statement 1 is sufficient. Statement 2 is clearly sufficient, so the answer is D.
