1. Only tells us that y can be 1 or 2, Insufficient
2. x^2 -4x -12 = 0; x=-2 or 6. x has to be 6.
If x=6 then 216+1-6 = 211 (The bracket portion). For any value of y that is +ve (y can't be zero) the expression is >200. Sufficient. B
