I think the right answer is A because it limits the possibilities between 0 and 1.

chetan2u could you clarify why are we considering the negative side even though it is mentioned in statement one that x is greater than zero?

Thanks

Hi,

The limitation is on x^2, not x..
When x=-1/2, x^2=1/4... Although x^2 is within the range 0 to 1, x is <0..

I
As it is x^2 can never be NEGATIVE.
So x within the range -1 to 1 except when x is 0 will satisfy range of x^2 from 0 to 1.

Yes, you are right. Now, it is clear.

Thanks for your time.

Is x > x^2?

(1) x^2 is less than 1 but greater than 0.
(2) x^3 is less than x^2

Source : Kaplan

#1
x=+/-1/2 insufficient
#2
again x vcan be +/-1/2
from 1 &2
nothing can be determined
