Given: On a recent trip, Pat drove 10 miles.
Asked: What Pat's average speed?
(1) Pat drove 6 miles at an average speed of 12 miles per hour and then drove the remaining 4 miles at an average speed of 10 miles per hour.
Total time = 6/12 + 4/10 = .9 hours
Average speed = 10/.9 = 11 1/9 miles / hour
SUFFICIENT
(2) Pat drove a total of 0.9 hours.
