Official Explanation
In this question, we have company members, who include so-called managers and non-managers, and event staff. On to the data statements, separately first.
Statement (1) gives us the total number of attendees. This number times 3/5 will give us the number of employees, 3/5*125, and that number times 4/5 will be the number of non-managers. So we can determine the number of non-managers uniquely. Statement (1) is sufficient.
Statement (2) gives us the number of staff. Since 2/5 of the total are staff, we can form an equation 2/5*total = 50 and thus solve for the total number. By the logic discussed for Statement (1), having the total number of attendees is sufficient. Therefore, Statement (2) is sufficient.
The correct answer is (D).
