What is the area of the 144° sector of the circle?
(1) The square with one of the sides as the chord that subtends an angle of 90° on the circle measures 64 sq. cm. in area.
(2) When an isosceles triangle is constructed by taking the longest chord of the circle and the other vertex on the circumference of the circle, the length of each of the equal sides of the triangle is 4√2 cm.

The answer is D. Each statement is sufficient. To find the area of the sector, we should know the radius of the circle.
1) The first statement talks of a square having area 64cm sq. So the side becomes 8. Since the side (chord) subtends an angle of 90• so the radius becomes 4√2 cm. And the statement is sufficient.
2) here the longest chord is diameter and we get two sides by fixing a vertex on the circumference. This creates an isosceles triangle . The circle has a radius of 4√2 cm.
