120 = 100% chemistry students including chemistry major students too.
We need the total no. Of students who are enrolled in chemistry course. Or the percentage enrolled in chemistry course having no science major to determine total no. Of pass students. (Insufficient)

(2) 64 chemistry majors passed the final exam last semester.
64 = 95% students passed the exam. 100% = 64*100/95 = 67. But, We need the total no. Of students who are enrolled in chemistry course. (Insufficient)

Together 1&2: The total no.of students or the percentage is not mentioned. Hence Insufficient

Ordinarily this configuration of information would be sufficient, if we used both Statements. If all the data in the question was about "last semester", then using Statement 2 and the "95%" figure in the stem, you could find the number of chemistry majors in total, then subtracting that from the 120 in Statement 1, you could find the number of non-majors. Finally using the "70%" in the stem, you could work out how many non-majors passed, and add that to the 64 in Statement 2 to answer the question.

But the percentages in the stem tell us about what has happened "over the past 5 years". We have no idea specifically what happened "last semester" so we have no hope of answering the question, and the answer is an almost instant E.

So on one side there are chemistry majors enrolled in a specific chemistry course and on the other we have other students enrolled in the chemistry course. I'm not too sure if the chemistry course is the same between the 2 groups and which one this is talking about (because in the first one it uses the word specific and in the second one it doesn't say that it is the same, so it could have been a different one). But lets assume it is the same. The important thing to notice is the 5 year period.

These are part of the first group, but for last semester only. And no information about the rest of the class. So insufficient. C or E
