Profit = Selling Price - Cost Price
If we are able to find each of these for 1 washer, we can find the value of the profit for 7 dozen washers.
Statement 1:Washers are bought at 45 cents per dozen and are sold at four washers for 18 cents.
From this statement, CP of 1 washer = 45/12 = 15/4 = 3.75 cents and the SP of 1 washer = 18/4 = 4.5 cents
With this data, we can calculate the profit for 7 dozen washers.
Therefore Statement 1 Alone is Sufficient. Answer options could be A or D
Statement 2: Washers are sold for 20% more than their cost, which is $3.75 for 100 washers.
CP of 1 washer = 3.75 / 100 = 37.5 cents
SP of 1 washer = 20% more than 37.5 = 1.2 * 37.5 = 45 cents
Again, with this data, we can calculate the profit for 7 dozen washers.
Therefore Statement 2 Alone is Sufficient.
