Points x and y lie on a line segment. How many units long is the line segment?
(1) Point x is 15 units from one end of the segment and point y is 15 units from the other end.
(2) There are 10 units between points x and y.

There are three conditions which can arise from this:-
a) X and Y lies at the same point: Signifying length of the line segment is 30 units.b) X lies to the right of Y and frame of reference for X is from far left and for Y far right.. In this condition statement 1 is not sufficient as we don't know the distance between X and Y.
c) X lies to the left of Y and frame of reference for X is from far left and for Y far right.. In this condition statement 1 is not sufficient as we don't know the distance between X and Y.
So, A and D are out.(2) There are 10 units between points x and y.
We get two conditions out of this swell:
b) X lies to the right of Y and frame of reference for X is from far left and for Y far right. So the answer will be 5+10+5 = 20.
c) X lies to the left of Y and frame of reference for X is from far left and for Y far right. So the answer will be 15+10+15= 40.
We getting two answers hence B is not sufficient. Combining won't help as we are still left with the two conditions of statement B. So C is Out.E is the answer.
