From the statement in B :

(2) On one of the first 3 days, Danny collected 6 cards.

It means that in any one of the days among Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the number of collection of cards was 6 then the second statement is also true, and the answer should be D.

The least card collected on Thursday should be 9 in this combination : 5,6,7,9

A) 76-49 i.e. 27 cards are to be distributed amongst M,Tues,W,Thurs.
Let's consider 2 scenarios:

1) Thurs is >8 i.e. 9 cards
Remaining cards can be distributed as 5,6,7

2) Thurs=8
Max of remaining cards can be 5+6+7 =18, but we need 19. Hence not possible.

Statement 1 is sufficient.

B) If Danny collects 6 cards on Monday, M,T,W could be 6,7,8 leaving 55 to be distributed amongst Thurs and Fri. Here Thurs would be definitely>8.
If Danny collects 6 cards on Wed, M,T,W could be 4,5,6 leaving 61 to be distributed amongst Thurs and Fri where Thurs might or might not be>8.

Hence, statement 2 is not sufficient.

Over the course of 5 days, Monday through Friday, Danny collects a total of 76 baseball cards. Each day, he collects a different number of cards. If Danny collects the largest number of cards on Friday and the second largest number of cards on Thursday, did Danny collect more than 8 cards on Thursday?


(1) On Friday, Danny collected 49 cards.

(2) On one of the first 3 days, Danny collected 6 cards.
