From the premise the data given in the table we can find the total score of the five tests and the total of the 7 tests.
Marks obtained in (test 6 + test 7) = Marks obtained in all seven tests - Marks obtained in tests 1 to 5
Statement 1
(1) Sam scored 25% more in test 6 than in test 7.
As we know the relationship between the scores of the two tests, the statement alone is sufficient to find the marks of test 7.
Sufficient. Eliminate options B, C and E.
Statement 2
(2) Sam’s average score of test 6 and test 7 was equal to the average of X and Y.
As X and Y are unknows, the statement is clearly not sufficient.
